THE SERVER LABS and Innovation
When THE SERVER LABS was created, innovation was in mind as a key business process.Innovating is creating, experimenting and successfully implementing new ideas, incorporating new technologies, design and best practices. In THE SERVER LABS, we want to contribute to the innovation in Europe, in our industry and also at corporate level. This is why we analyse the trends, experiment with them and implement whatever we think will be of value for our business and industry.
THE SERVER LABS believes that IT is a tool for business but also that the business strategy has to be linked to the IT architecture to be feasible and executable. Consequently, IT innovation will directly benefit the business. A good understanding and respect for technology will enable business strategies to be successful. Only with this vision, innovation becomes more important than cost savings, which is definitely a tactical approach but should not drive the strategy. Of course, innovation is risky but not innovating is even riskier.
Being innovative at technology and at company level will guarantee business growth and value. Some of the things we do to implement innovation are:
- Management style: constant leadership and coaching, flat organisation focused on responsibilities per individual, open management and company information available, management knowledgeable of technology at all times. Leadership is extremely important; the idea is to create a company culture where a group of normal people gets to achieve extraordinary things.
- New technologies for all business processes: THE SERVER LABS is very technically oriented, so we are not scared of implementing IT applications, technologies and practices that are new. The implementation of new technologies at corporate level will often result in diminishing costs. For example Virtualization and Cloud computing for an effective use of the available IT infrastructure. Cloud computing, intensive use of Internet for our business processes and corporate activities, etc.
- Open Source and SaaS: As we are product independent, we are keen on using OSS and SaaS not just for development tools and security but also for corporate applications: CRM, billing, intranet etc. The implementation of OSS and SaaS at corporate level will often result in diminishing costs, although not always. The most important result of adopting this type of software is that it provides real time innovation worldwide and will put the company in a much easier position to adopt new technologies in the future.
